Four National Championships Since 1982
Miami has won four national championships: in 1982 and 1985 under coach Ron Fraser, defeating Wichita State in the 1982 title game, and in 1999 and 2001 under coach Jim Morris, beating Florida State in 1999 and Stanford in 2001. In their early independent years, from 1940 through 1990, the program built its foundation under head coaches including Jack Harding and Eddie Dunn.
The Rivalry With Florida
The baseball rivalry between the University of Florida and the University of Miami began in 1940, and since 1960 the two teams have typically faced each other at least twice each regular season. In recent years, Florida has dominated the series, winning four consecutive series and 10 of the last 11 matchups, but the rivalry continues to draw intense interest from both fan bases, with players on both sides describing it as one of the most heated in college baseball.
