A study analyzing hotel room rates for the end of the year across 60 major cities worldwide has revealed why Miami has become the most expensive destination to visit for New Year’s celebrations. The analysis was conducted by travel website Cheaphotels.org, which compared accommodation prices in popular cities for a three-night stay during the holiday period.
According to the report, the ranking is based on double-room rates at centrally located properties with a minimum three-star rating, considered among the most affordable lodging options. The results place Miami Beach at the top of the list, with an average cost of $1,187 for a hotel room for the period from December 30 to January 2.
New York ranked third on the list, with an average rate of $1,164 for the same dates, according to figures cited by Forbes. These prices highlight the significant surge in hotel costs across major tourist destinations during the New Year holiday.
The study notes that staying in Miami for New Year’s is 197 percent more expensive than lodging at any other time in January, making it one of the costliest short vacations of the season. This sharp increase is largely driven by exceptionally high demand.
Travel industry analysts quoted by Travel and Tour World explain that Miami remains a top destination to ring in the New Year due to its warm weather, beaches, vibrant nightlife, and extensive lineup of special events. This combination pushes accommodation, dining, and entertainment prices to elevated levels.periodo.
