The City of Miami Beach has launched the second phase of the renovation of Lincoln Road, a 29.4 million dollars project that will expand the pedestrian experience and improve key infrastructure.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place on September 5, 2025, at the corner of Lincoln Road and Drexel Avenue. The work, which will widen the pedestrian-only zone, has an estimated timeline of twelve months.
Project authorities and objectives
The expansion of the pedestrian corridor in Miami Beach is overseen and managed by the municipal government in conjunction with the Lincoln Road Business Improvement District (LRBID).
Mayor Steven Meiner and LRBID President Lyle Stern led the official announcement. The central purpose of the expansion is to create a safer and more modern pedestrian experience for residents and visitors.

The project in Miami Beach includes the construction of an open-air amphitheater, inspired by the MiMo style of architect Morris Lapidus. This decision connects the contemporary pedestrian expansion with the historical legacy of the promenade, originally designed in the 1950s.
